It’s been a pleasant surprise to find out how well we can team up with various design agencies and work together, with their clients, on their terms, their deadlines, our skills and tools, resulting in combined quality output! Cow Africa is our most recent addition in this space, which has allowed us to work on brands such as Vodacom, Bacardi, Van Dycks to name a few. Before this Flint Studio has been a great agency to work with, and we’re looking forward to long lasting relationships that offer more to the end client. Grant from Digital Fuel and our guys often team up to take on bigger projects, or projects with high turn-around times. In short, we’re getting all the benefits of being a big agency, without actually being one – definitely a great situation…

Exciting advances in technology have also allowed us to increase our offerings and at the same time focus more on what we truly enjoy doing – providing great web sites and web applications to our clients…

This includes various new media being explored: iPad books, web apps and Android apps.

Our internal development continues to expand:

I (Billy) am putting time into Android development, more Rails time, and starting to eye CakePHP as my framework of choice in PHP. I’m also exploring the authoring of iPad Textbooks, some JQuery, WordPress Themes and plugins..

George, while progressing leaps and bounds with WordPress (both implementation and with plugins and customisation and theme generation), is also spending some time getting into After Effects for video editing.

Danie is upping his HTML, CSS and WordPress skills in order to handle smaller projects.

We’re also taking full advantages of the many tools available to us: Trello, Dropbox, Evernote..

On our client side:

Watch soundimports.co.za for their new site launch, within a few weeks; their Bose products will be housed in the premium site that the brand warrants.

Bophelo Benefit will also go live within a week or two, be sure to check back for their new site!

DebtSafe continues to be a really great client, always working to improve the experience for their customers on a monthly basis.

All things considered, this is going to be a busy, fruitful and exciting year!

They say a plumber’s drain is always blocked; and I guess it’s the same with a web developers site! Much has happened this year that is newsworthy. I’ve got a new contractor working with me on many of my projects. George is hard working, good at solving this web glitches that happen from time to time, and he’s learning at a phenomenal rate.. He’s also my guitar teacher!

Also, working with Nikki has been great, we’ve built a pretty nifty tool in PHP for Air Liquide.

Check out the HogWild site, it launched a while ago now: www.hogwild.co.za. They have incredible toys! This was our first Magento project, I think you’ll agree it was a major success.

Currently, I’m spending the majority of my time doing Rails 3 development on a new initiative in the property market. In between, we’ll be churning out some WordPress sites, a possible auction site, maybe some Facebook app dev too.

I’m still itching to get into some Android dev – but my spare time is pretty much taken with other things, so hopefully I can get a crack at that before the year is up..

I’ve recently met up with some cool people from Flint Studio’s, looking forward to coordinating with them on some projects in future.
